NITI Aayog announced first Delta Ranking of Aspirational Districts program. Out of the 5 districts named as “most improved Districts” that showcased significant improvement from their earlier position on the baseline ranking during March 31 – May 31, 2018, 2 districts of AP found their place in the list.
Transformation of Aspirational District’s programme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi this year and it is aimed at quickly and effectively transforming some of the most underdeveloped districts of the country. 108 participated in the first Delta ranking. NITI Aayog’s Delta ranking for the Aspirational Districts was based on self-reported data of districts between March 31, 2018 to May 31, 2018. It measures incremental progress. Parameters are across five developmental areas- health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water resources, financial inclusion and skill development and basic infrastructure.
Gujarat’s Dahod was in top position. West Sikkim (Sikkim), Ramanathapuram (Tamil Nadu) stood at 2nd and 3rd positions and Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh), YSR Kadapa district (Andhra Pradesh) stood at 4th and 5th positions respectively as per the data released by NITI Aayog.
