After shifting to vasthu-perfect new official residence, the acid test likely to be faced by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would be possible by-polls to be held for three Lok Sabha constituencies. Three MPs Gutta Sukhender Reddy (Nalgonda-Cong), Ch. Malla Reddy (Malkajgiri-TDP) and P Srinivas Reddy (Khammam-YSRCP), who defected into TRS are bound to lose their membership soon. Even those parties are making efforts to initiate disqualification process approaching Lok Sabha speaker Sumtira Mahajan.
Chief Minister also reportedly advised ministers and other party leaders from respective areas to get prepare for by-polls. Though TRS has been winning every by-poll since formation of its government two and years ago, these three constituencies are believed to be not so comfortable for the ruling party, TRS was defeated in these three constituencies during 2014 polls.
Among three MPs, Sukhendra Reddy is reportedly not showing interest to contest again, but seeking a berth in the state cabinet by becoming MLC. However, Chief Minister is till now non-committal in this regard. Moreover, Nalgonda is the only erstwhile district where Congress succeeded in winning MLC seat from local bodies early this year defeating TRS candidate. So, it would be challenges task for KCR to win back this seat.
On the other hand, the opposition is likely to filed common resourceful candidates in these three constituencies. At a time confusion prevailed in the state after creation of 21 new districts and the government revenues are facing severe strains, the polls would be critical for the ruling party.
Part of Mlakajgiri constituency comes under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Early this year TRS has registered commendable success in GHMC polls promising to make this as an international city. But recent rains havoc makes the city life horrible and people started discontent over failure of the government in improving civic amenities.
