Not a day passes without Telugu Desam leaders referring to the Jalayagnam as Dhana Yagnam. ‘Jala Yagnam’ is a scheme launched by YS Rajasekhar Reddy to build irrigation projects everywhere in united Andhra Pradesh and bring a crore acres under irrigation.
Chandrababu Naidu has been launching a campaign against corruption in Jalayagnam then as opposition leader, now as chief minister . In the process he dubbed the project as Dhana Yagnam, meaning that the project has turned out to be a money spinning business.
The scheme, launched by Rajasekhar Reddy with much fanfare, was continued by Congress CMs Now, Telugu Desam is using the name of the scheme to attack opposition leader Jaganmohan Reddy. On Thursday, irrigation minister Devineni Umamaheswar Rao shouted that corruption, not water, flowed from Jalayagnam during YSR regime and TDP was working to ensure that water is flown in the canals. The YSR’s pet scheme is most hated by TDP ministers. No debate is AP Assembly is complete without referring to Jala Yagnam and its corruption.
If the ‘Jala Yagnam’ project is really a synonym for corruption, Why is TDP continuing entire bureaucratic set up and contractors that supervised and implemented the Jala Yaganm project. Those officers, who mastered the art of “jala yagnam” are the most sought after babus for Chandrababu Naidu as well. What is the politics in this ?
Most important aspect of the whole drama is the continuance of irrigation principal secretary Aditya Nath das. He is the only IAS officer, loved by every leader in power, irrespective of the party.
Rajasekhar Reddy liked him so much that he appointed him on April 6, 2007 as secretary irrigation. Next week Adityanath Das is going to celebrate his successful ninth anniversary as irrigation secretary, a record of sorts in entire India. I sources are believed a small celebration is slated on April 6.
Because, normally, an officer doesn’t last more than two years in any assignment ,even though the norm prescribes that officer should be guaranteed a minimum tenure of three years. Three-year is a rare honor unless one is as lovable and likable as Adityanath Das.
Das is a 1987 batch officer, known for his talent to win over the political bosses. He is the only officer from previous Congress regime who was closely associated with YSR’s brainchild as irrigation secretary and still remains most sought after in the TDP government. All other officers, who are perceived to be close to previous Congress regime have been ignored by the TDP dispensation, many officer allege.
The rare honor of being the blue-eyed of four chief ministers , who hate each other to the bone, goes to Adityanath Das. He created all India record in continuing in the place for nine years, which every chief minister loved to hate when out of power, and fell in love with after assuming office.
what is the secret of Das garu.
