Mani Ratnam’s Cheliya is the only Telugu release in Overseas this week. Despite having a solo release and some big names involved, the romantic entertainer released with a low-key buzz. Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari played the lead roles in the film.
In overseas, Cheliya started its box office journey on a moderate note. According to the latest trade reports, the film has managed to collect $ 27K from its Thursday premiers. The Tamil version of the film registered a decent $ 66K from the premiers. The numbers are bound to improve towards the first weekend. With no big competition from other releases, the film should garner good numbers to sustain at the box office.
While the strong technical bravura is a big plus for the film, the snail paced narration by Mani Ratnam is an undoing aspect. The film has its music score done by AR Rahman and Ravi Verman cranked the camera.
