Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government is planning to make the Mallavalli area of Bapulapadu mandal in Krishna district as the State’s major industrial hub. Starting with the mega food park, the abundant land available in the area would help the State to turn it into a major industrial hub, close to the capital, Amaravati city.
Minister for Major industries, food processing and public enterprises, N Amarnadh Reddy, who inspected the progress of works for the mega food park that is set to come up in the first phase, expressed confidence that the area would be a special attraction for the global investments. He said the availability of the Chennai-Kolkata national highway, the Gannavaram airport and the access to the Machilipatnam port would all be additional advantages for the area to be developed into a global investment destination.
The Minister further informed that the automobile major Ashok Leyland had shown interest to have its investments at Mallavalli and the talks were in progress. The Minister said that the government would consider all applications for investment in Mallavalli and even give clearances at the earliest. He further claimed that Mallavalli would be greater than the Jeedimetla and Balanagar of Hyderabad. He said that the government was holding consultations with the industrialists and investors giving them priorities to invest in Mallavalli.
The Minister asked the officials to speed up the roads, drains and electricity works for the 57 acres of food park area on priority. This would follow similar arrangements for other investors in the vicinity, he asserted.
