Government of Andhra Pradesh which withdrew of controversial Government Order 64, is now facing the ire of Agricultural Student Associations (AP ASA). Several students have been demanding implementation of GO64 and cancellation of the previous GO16.
A group of agriculture students conducted ‘Jaladeeksha’ a protest at Durga Ghat on Friday holding placards hoping that goddess Kanakadurga will direct the State government to restore the GO64. As many as 30000 Telugu students studying in Agricultural colleges were not recognised by ICAR. With withdrawal of GO64 these students are no longer eligible to apply for government jobs.
The students deplored Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan one-sidedly extending support to students reaching out to him without doing a proper study. They demanded him to withdraw his statement.
They alleged that 30,000 Telugus studying in good agricultural colleges that were not recognised by the ICAR. All of them would lose eligibility to apply for the government jobs which includes students who studied BSc Agriculture in other State colleges, recognised by the University Grants Commission.
APASA leaders claim that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) was is concerned with research and not educational benchmarks. They said on par with Medical Council of India for MBBS, an Agricultural Council needs to be setup by September 19 and if not they will conduct protest at secretariat.
