The Tirupati, renowned Hindu pilgrim centre and abode of Lord Balaji is going global. It will find place in the international aviation map once Prime Minister Modi inaugurates Tirupati International Airport, a long awaited dream, on October 22, the Vijayadasami Day. Immediate flight operations are not scheduled as customs and immigration desks are not ready. This depends on the operation of flights to the temple city from various destinations by the airline operators.

The terminal, developed in an area of 16,500 sq.m. at a cost of Rs. 175 crore, can handle 700 passengers a day, while the parking lot can accommodate 300 cars, according to Airport Director V.V. Rao. Apart from Mr. Modi, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister for Civil Aviation P. Ashok Gajapati Raju,Urban Development minister M Venkaiah Naidu are among the delegates expected to take part in the ceremony. Development of Tirupati into an International Airport along with Vizag is the commitment of union government.
