TV5 to launch a vernacular news paper
TV5, one of the leading channels in Telugu, is also getting into news paper business. Reportedly they are restarting “Udayam” news paper. Seems most of the background work has already been done. But there were some issues with using the same name, but our sources tell those issues are also are sorted out.
Remember Udayam??Only month after it first rolled off the presses, Telugu daily Udayam (dawn) touched the remarkable circulation figure of 2,24,000 and was a runaway success. Publisher Dasari Narayana Rao was at the age of 38 when he started Udayam. In fact in one month of starting the paper, he ordered more printing machines as he was unable to meet the demand for another 50,000 copies from vendors, and he abandoned his ongoing sales promotion campaign because of this. Though “Udayam” paper was sun-set long back, the trademark of the UDAYAM paper is still brand in in this generation. So Tv5 starting news paper with this name is definitely going to create sensation among media circles
As we reported exclusively earlier, TV9 Ravi Prakash also starting a news paper. Interesting that when whole world is moving from news papers to digital media, Telugu media barons are moving towards print.
