Telugu film industry called for a strike couple of weeks back to resolve issues with Digital Service Providers. Entire Telugu film industry stood behind that and the strike was successful in resolving the issue to some extent as DSPs reduced charges by 22%. Now Tamil Film industry also called for strike and asked all the film industry people to support the strike.
However, Vijay seems to be not supporting the strike call given by the Tamil Nadu Producers Council. Tamil Nadu Producers’ Council had called for a complete shutdown of the industry from March 16 over its issues with Digital Service Providers (DSP). However, Vijay’s upcoming film, which is written and directed by AR Murugaoss, has continued to shoot even after the announced shutdown. The team is currently, busy shooting an action sequence in Chennai.
This received criticism from other Tamil Producers and also Tamil people. Some went to the extent of saying, this incident exposed that there is no unity in Tamil Industry. But the secretary of Tamil Film Producers’ Council stood by Vijay and clarified that the Vijay’s film unit took a special permission for this as stunt choreographers Ram-Lakshman do not have dates for the next two months and the delay will affect the film a lot. However, this statement also slammed by others questioning the double standards of the producers’ council.
We have to wait and see how Vijay responds on this!!
