Just like the Manmohan Singh government (UPA 2009 – 2014) brought in Aadhaar Number system, the AP Govt. under the leadership of AP CM Chandrababu Naidu is trying to bring in Bhudhaar – A unique identification number system for land parcels in the state. Though the state government has taken a decision over this in the last week of November 2017, the actual measures are underway recently.
Speaking on this, AP Deputy CM KE Krishnamurthy said, ‘along the lines of Aadhaar, the AP State Government is bringing 11-digit unique number under the Bhudhaar Card scheme. All the details of a given land will be embedded into the 11-digit unique code’.
At a time when many are expressing privacy concerns over the Aadhaar Card data itself, the AP Govt.’s call for Bhudhaar is under the scanner. Even if we ignore the ‘security’ aspects, it is still unclear why AP Govt. is running after Microsoft. When we are able to build the Aadhaar System for over 120 crore Indians, why can’t we build for the 4.5 crore land parcels in the state?
Is this a day-light robbery in the name of smart governance? Only the AP CM and Microsoft Co-Founder Bill Gates can answer this.
