The sensational Miryalaguda honour killing took a new twist on Tuesday as the police confirmed the role of a Bihar based contract killer named Subhash Sarma as the main accused in the heinous act.
But there’s the criminal connection to the Hyderabad Malakpet based criminal Mohammed Bali as well.
Subhash and Bali met at the Rajahmundry Central Jail sometime ago and later became partners in crime.
Superintendent of police Ranganath said that it was Subhash Sarma who attacked and killed Pranay near a hospital on September 14.
He did it at the instructions of Bali and they were to get Rs 1 cr as supari from businessman Maruti Rao, father of Pranay’s wife Amrutha. The whole incident came out like scenes from a crime thriller film. Maruti Rao kept track of the movements of Pranay through his wife. Believing no harm, Amrutha used to share her husband’s whereabouts with her mother. Prior to the killing day, Maruti Rao organised murder attempts on Pranay several times but they withdrew at last minute for various reasons.
One more reason for Maruti Rao’s uncontrolled rage was that Pranay and Amrutha planned a wedding reception after their low profile marriage at Arya Samaj at Hyderabad.
The talk in town about this had also become a matter of honour for him.
