Telangana Caretaker CM K Chandrasekhara Rao addressed the well-attended ‘Prajaaseervada’ public meeting at Wanaparthy in backward Palamur region on Friday evening when he lashed out at past Andhra chief ministers and went to the extent of calling YSR and Chandrababu ‘durmaargulu’ (evildoers) as they did lot of injustice to Telangana people during their regimes.
KCR made a bigger attack on YSR, saying that he began Pothireddypadu project to divert large quantities of water from Krishna river at the cost of lakhs of farmers in Palamur region and by neglecting projects of Mahabubnagar area.
Stating that Sonia Gandhi was almost ready to give separate Telangana in 2004 itself because of TRS efforts, KCR said it was YSR who put hurdles in the path of separate statehood at that time and forced Sonia to withdraw her decision at the last minute.
He asserted that TRS did not lose hope and recalled how he kept hopes alive among people. Those days, he had to use words like “Poradadam randi. Telangana raka pothe nannu ralla tho kotti champandi” (We shall fight. If Telangana is not formed, you kill me by throwing stones at me.)
Dismissing claims of Congress leaders on Sonia having given separate statehood eventually, KCR emphatically said that Sonia did not concede Telangana till 2014 only after having no choice as TRS and youth made many sacrifices waging an intensified agitation for over 10 years since 2004. “Had the statehood been given in 2004 itself, Telangana would have seen better development in terms of irrigation projects and people’s welfare by now,” he added.
TRS chief blamed the Andhra chief ministers for the miserable plight of people living in Palamur which had earned the titles of ‘Valasala zilla’ (migrants district) and ‘Karuvula zilla’ (drought-hit district) and also labourers district for lack of any progress in supplying water by executing irrigation projects.
KCR hit back at Congress leader DK Aruna, asking her to mend her words and mind her business (vollu daggara bettuko). Aruna had earlier challenged TRS leaders with words like “TRS kodukullara kasukondi” (sons of TRS, get ready for a showdown).
He ridiculed DK Aruna further, saying the same woman who is waving swords now at TRS, had held out ‘haaratis’ (welcome lamps) to Andhra leader Raghuveera Reddy who was bent upon diverting large quantities of water for over 300 kms by using four to five lifts at the cost of Palamur farmers.
KCR also criticised Jawaharlal Nehru for merging Telangana region with Andhra without bothering about its repercussions at that time and despite the fact that Telangana leaders led an ‘anti-idli sambar agitation’ against merger.
KCR lashed out at Chandrababu Naidu, taking strong objection AP CM’s charges that he (KCR) had a secret understanding with Prime Minister Modi to damage and destroy TDP in AP.
He asked Naidu not to use cool words of brotherhood in the name of Telugu people, saying that it was by using such words for 60 years that Telangana people were pushed into utter neglect and poverty till TRS led a self-respect agitation and launched reconstruction projects in the State after coming to power in 2014.
He appealed to Telangana voters not to give any chance to foxes and devils to rule the state saying “kashtapadi sadhinchina raashtranni deyyala palu, nakkala palu cheyoddu”.
