Every since the TDP broke away from the BJP-led NDA government in March 2018, the Modi government has not given any incentives for setting up industries in AP. Still, AP is able to attract lot of industrialists both domestic and internationally renowned corporates. CM Chandrababu Naidu says his government’s own efforts and his past experience are behind the continued investments flowing into the state.
Naidu released a white paper when he said AP would have seen greater industrial development if the Modi government gave required and promised support to it. He expressed bitterness that the much promised IT tower in Visakhapatnam has not materialised so far while no funds were released to take forward the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor that passes through most towns and cities in coastal Andhra Pradesh.
CBN also lashed at the BJP saying there was no progress in the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) promised for Kanigiri in Prakasam district of AP. This would now be taken up by the AP government itself. Also, the much neglected Petro Chemical Corridor would be taken up by the state government to boost industrial development and job creation in the region.
