The pro-AP organisations and political parties are preparing to intensify their fight against the Modi government’s injustice to the state. AP Special Status Committee leader Chalasani Srinivas and other leaders gave a call for AP State bandh on February 1 in support of their demand for Special Status and fulfilment of various promises made to AP at the time of formation of separate Telangana state.
The pro-Andhra organisations came down heavily on the BJP government at the Centre for not sanctioning the required funds to complete Polavaram project, Amaravati capital city and central educational institutions. Srinivas said the people of AP would teach a fitting lesson to the Centre if it continued to give a partisan treatment to AP.
Srinivas said in the budgetary allocation, the Modi government has allotted Rs. 57,600 crore for Maharashtra state while the much-ignored AP state is given just Rs. 3,670 crore only. For a long time now, there have been allegations that the BJP government is discriminating against the AP government just because CM Chandrababu Naidu has severed his ties with the NDA government last year. The AP leaders are stepping pressure on PM Modi during the coming Parliament session and ahead of the general election.
