PM Modi is facing a hell of a time in Karnataka which is the only southern state where the BJP has some strong presence as of now. Though the BJP emerged as single largest party in 2018 election, the Congress party scored a political gain by making the minority JDS party to form the alliance government. With this, the JDS began efforts to protect its government by trying to crush the BJP at every opportunity.
Now the situation is made worse for Modi as the Janata Dal (Secular) party passed a resolution to work with like minded parties to oust the BJP so as to protect secularism in the country. JDS chief and ex PM Deve Gowda says the BJP has to be uprooted as its presence is a danger to the secular fabric of the country. A senior and experienced politician, Gowda has been known for his shrewd moves in national politics.
Deve Gowda made an appeal to the secular parties across the country to come together and prevent the NDA government from coming back to power at the Centre in next election. Gowda made an unsparing attack on the GST and the demonetisation that were implemented by the Modi government. Gowda’s comments came as a big support for the Congress, the TDP and other anti-BJP parties.
