It is known news that BJP locked alliance with Shiva Sena yesterday and they agreed to share 48 MP seats – 25 for BJP and 23 for Shivsena. Now BJP has quickly forged alliance in Tamil Nadu.
In Tamil Nadu, AIADMK, PMK and BJP will share the 39 MP seats of the state. There was also news that even Vijaykanth’s DMDK may join this alliance. AIADMK party leadership said that 5 seats out of 39 MP seats will be allotted to BJP. In addition, PMK party, that has strength at grass root level, will contest 7 seats. PMK will also get 1 Rajya Sabha seat as part of the deal. The PMK, led by S Ramadoss, has a support base in northern Tamil Nadu, especially among the OBC Vanniyar community.
AIADMK, led by late Jayalalitha, won 37 out of 39 MP seats in Tamil Nadu in 2014. But now after allotting 12 seats for BJP and PMK, it may have to contest in remaining 27 seats. If Vijaykanth also joins the alliance, a few more seats need to be allotted to DMDK. Rajni will not contest 2019 Lok Sabha elections and Kamal Hassan is not part of NDA or UPA (at this moment).
We will have to wait and see how many seats NDA will win in Tamil Nadu, given the fact that both AIADMK and BJP have anti-incumbency in this state.
