The AP election scene is presenting a picture of strong fight between main parties. As usual, Jana Sena is threatening to split votes in key segments which may affect chances of main parties to get the magic number to form the government. As expected, TDP has emerged to give a strong fight on the strength of Pasupu Kumkuma, pensions, developmental projects like Polavaram and Amaravati. YCP is fighting on the strength of YSR sentiment among poorer sections, Reddy vote bank and Jagan’s popularity.
As electioneering is fast reaching its crucial stages, YCP MLA candidates are now depending heavily on an under current in support of their party. Their belief is the poorer sections are still in favour of YSR son Jaganmohan Reddy’s leadership and they want to give him one chance to rule the state. They believe that the YSR sentiment will nullify the proactive welfare drive taken up by Chandrababu Naidu.
This confidence on an under current is spreading among YSR sympathisers. They are confident that the positive response among women beneficiaries to TDP welfare schemes will not hurt YCP to the extent of affecting its chances.
