The Bharatiya Janata Party national leadership has almost come to a realisation on how to hurt the ruling YCP where it hurts the most. The BJP’s new mantra seems to be the polarisation of Andhra voters more along caste lines rather than religious feelings. This is why the BJP leaders have started attacking the open bias being shown by the YCP government in favour of one particular caste whether in CM Jagan’s inner coterie or giving nominated posts.
Being the main opposition party, the TDP is using only its second rung leaders to make some passing remarks against caste-based appointments. Unlike this, the BJP main leaders have begun direct attacks on AP CM for neglecting other OC communities only to favour Reddy caste.
Madhya Pradesh Ex Chief Minister Shivrajsingh Chauhan openly attacked Jagan saying that the YCP government would meet its certain downfall just like the TDP because of its caste partiality. The BJP state leaders are also attracting Kamma and Kapu leaders from YCP by exposing this caste imbalance. Jagan undoubtedly gave a big chance to rivals. Almost all government advisors are Reddys, beginning with Ajay Kallam Reddy. Chairmen of lucrative nominated posts like TTD are also Reddys. Rumours are that SC, ST, Minorities and BCs will be made directors but other OC castes won’t get any chances. Rivals say this open violation of Jagan’s promise of 50 per cent nominated posts to weaker sections. Unhappy Kamma leaders like Marri Rajasekhar from Chilakaluripeta assembly segment have no option now but to leave YCP and join mostly BJP.
