The Telangana Telugu Desam Party seems yet to come to terms with the Note for Vote episode. Keeping the cordial relations between the two chief ministers of Telugu speaking states, for the time being the TTDP is sporting armchair politics. While a day before the party has announced to come up with a special Election Manifesto for the ensuing Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, on Thursday, it released a 24-point fact sheet of failures of the ruling TRS government in Telangana.
Hyderabad: The Telangana unit of Telugu Desam Part showing no signs excitement as witnessed in other parties in a run up to the ensuing Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections. Earlier, the party used to chalk out an elaborated strategy a couple of months ahead of the GHMC elections, entrusting the rank and file of its cadre.
But, this time, the party seems to have adopted a more docile attitude and so far confined only to armchair politics like preparation of special election manifesto for the elections and releasing a ’24-point failure sheet’ on the ruling TRS party government in last one year.
The soft approach of the TTDP could be due to the fact that it is yet to come to terms with the Note for Vote episode. And, it does not want to take on the TRS, challenging it as it had done during the last Mahanadu held at in Telangana. But, all the vitriolic attack on the pink party had been subsided with just one stroke of Note for Vote episode.
Or, it could also be that, of late, both the Chief Ministers K Chandrasekhara Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu has been engaged in mending their differences and quite often seen as good pals of olden days, whenever they meet. And, the TTDP does not want to play the role of a spoilsport, as any adventurism on its party could invite new trouble to it.
So, strictly confining itself to the political arena, the party has been soft-paddling by only making political allegations and waiting for opportunities to come, to take on the pink brigade.
According to party sources, to keep its flag afloat, the party had recently called for a meeting of all its constituency and division in-charges from GHMC area. The meeting had discussed at length to strengthen its cadre base and keep the existing cadre intact, from poaching ahead of the GHMC elections. For people of the city and to seek votes, it has decided to draft an exclusive electoral manifesto, rolling out the details of what all had been done for the development of Hyderabad, during the Naidu’s earlier stint as the Chief Minister in united Andhra Pradesh. Also, the local party leaders were asked to draft a division-wise and assembly constituency-wise issues bothering the people. This includes basic infrastructure like roads, drinking water, sanitation and the like. Once the potential issues are identified, the party would come up with its GHMC manifesto to promise the Hyderabadi’s that it would address their issues, and the election campaign too would confine only to the development agenda than political campaign between the TRS and TDP.
Similarly, not able to get its way on many issues inside and the outside of the house, the party has come up with a fact sheet of failures of the ruling TDP in the last one year. Releasing the document, the TTDP leader in the assembly, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, posed a volley of questions to the ruling party.
Encouraging political defections, suspending opposition members from the state assembly, conducting the assembly session for a mere 21 days, not bothering about the farmers suicides, not acting to control the spiraling prices of the essential commodities, neglecting early completion of pending irrigation projects, deteriorating law and order in the city, CM showing much interest in his farm house cultivation, and not attending regularly to his duties at the state secretariat, attacks on political opponents, not delivering on the electoral promises like reservations for STs and minorities and the like are what the TTDP pointed out as the failures of the TRS ruled state government. However, the party remained silent on whether it wanted to go to people taking all these issues and fight against the TRS.
