Andhra Pradesh government has decided to celebrate the 66th Republic Day in Vijayawada entirely with a new theme to articulate a new beginning by the residuary state. Republic parade will take place at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium of city, which now houses the temporary capital. Chief secretary IYR Krishna Rao reviewed the arrangements in a coordination meeting held at Hyderabad Secretariat the secretaries and heads of all department .
In order to convey to the people of the state that the bifurcation of the state has heralded a new phase in the development of Andhra Pradesh, entirely new theme, based on the new initiatives taken by chief minister Naidu, will be presented in the RD celebrations. Tableaux of departments will focus on the developmental activities and schemes such as NTR Jalasiri, Panta Sanjeevani and River linkage Pattiseema etc taken up by the TDP government. “Chief secretary has informed that the celebrations will be held at Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada. He has allocated duties to all the departments for the same,” the State government stated in a press release.
Instruction have been issued to medical & health department to keep in place medical teams with requisite equipment, near the venue during rehearsals and celebrations. Officials of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation have also been instructed to maintain cleanliness in and around the stadium.
Rao asked the officials to make arrangement such focusing on better security, water proof tents, providing uninterrupted electricity, supply of drinking water and decoration of city in this regard.
“There is a need to take special care on the school children and students on their participation and who will perform cultural program during the celebrations,” he said. In fact, the State government had celebrated first Republic Day, post-bifurcation, in the reorganized State in Vijayawada last year also.
Special chief secretary (TR&B) B Sam Bob, DGP JV Ramudu, Secretary (political) Sasibhushan Kumar, Krishna District Collector A Babu, Vijayawada Commissioner of Police D Gautam Sawang, additional director (I & PR) D Srinivas and others attended the meeting.
