Central BJP is no mood to disturb the set up in Andhra Pradesh while it wants to reorganize the party structure in Telangana. Party sources said incumbent state party president K Haribabu will continue in future as well . But, party is planning to replace G Kishan Reddy with a new face in Telangana.
As for Andhra, the idea of appointing some aggressive leader as the party president has reportedly been dropped. Earlier, before Bihar elections, the party was under the impression that the party could only expand unless it takes an independent stand on certain issues of the state such as backwardness and drought in Rayalaseema and North Coastal Andhra. Then, the party had given hawks like D Purandeswari, Kanna Lakshminarayana, Somu Virraju and Kavuri Sambasiva Rao free hand and liberty to criticize the ruling party to some extent as far as issues of the people were concerned. At that it was thought that Haribabu would be replaced and a new leader, who could help the party expand to new areas, would take over. Now, signals from the party clearly indicate that Haribabu will continue as the head of Andhra Pradesh unit and nominal organizational elections will endorse the decision.
As for Telangana, in all likelihood MLC N Ramachander Rao is expected to replace G Kishan Reddy as the boss of the Telangana unit . The argument is that Kishan Reddy has already completed two terms and it is high time that it promoted a new face. Though names such as former MLA Endla Lakshminarayana, MLA chintala Ramachandra Reddy are doing rounds, senior leaders like M Venkaiah Naidu are said to be preferring Ramanchandra Rao.
