The SC ST faculty forum of Hyderabad Central University took strong objection to the appointment of Prof Vipin Srivastav as the acting vice chancellor in the absence of Prof P Apparao, who was asked to go on leave following the crisis on the campus. Taking the total number for professors who quit the administrative responsibilities to 15, on Monday morning two more professors rallied against the appointment of Srivastav as vice chancellor by resigning to the administrative positions. They said Srivastav was not suitable to discharge the responsibilities especially at this juncture. He was responsible for two suicides, they alleged. They also expressed disillusion that the proceedings of the subcommittee of Executive Council would not be transparent if the Srivastav were to head it.

The students of HCU organized a rally up to the main gate and accused police of by fomenting new trouble by stopping the students who were peaceful. The leaders of JAC said they would not call off their strike till all their demands were met.
They announced their plan to organize Chalo Delhi soon. In the meantime, they said a university bandh would be observed on January 27 across the country.” All Universities in the country will participate in the bandh and express solidarity to the cause of HCU students and to exert pressure on the union government to concede the demands of the students such as Rs 50 lakh compensation for the family of Rohit, removal of Apparao as Vice Chancellor and action against union ministers Smriti Irani and Bandaru Dattatreya.
