We will get clarity after one year: CM Naidu
The promised steel plant in public sector in Kadapa district is nowhere in sight. This is the impression one gets if one goes by outcome of meeting a delegation of steel plant sadhana samiti (SPSS)from Kadapa district had with chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and Opposition leader YS jagan Mohan Reddy in the past two days.
Led by the president of the Samiti G Praveen Reddy the delegation first called on chief minister Chandrababu Naidu at Hyderabad and presented a memorandum. Though Naidu gave a patience hearing to the delegation, who narrated the plight of the farmers, students and youth in the backward district and immediacy of setting up of the plant to provide employment and to give fillip to the local economy, there was no fresh update from the chief minister with regard to the status of the plant at the central government. According the Praveen, who spoke to Telugu360.com, Naidu assured that the state government would get clarity on the subject only after one year.
” The incorporation of the steel plant in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act,2014 has rekindled the hope of revival of steel plant near Proddatur. where land and water are readily available for the plant. Foundation was also laid by the YS Rajasekhar Reddy for the plant. But, due to unforeseen developments, the plant was shelved. Now that there is an assurance from the centre, the region is eagerly waiting for the setting up of the plant. Delay would disappoint the people,” said the memorandum submitted to the chief minister.
The chief minister said, the state government was conscious of the delay and it had been putting pressure on the centre on the subject. The CM reminded the delegation the resolution adopted by the state Assembly last week on the unimplemented issues of bifurcation act which includes setting up of the steel plant i Kadapa district.
I will sign steel-plant file first after becoming CM : Jagan
Later the delegation had a lengthy meeting with leader of opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Jagan expressed displeasure over lack progress in the implementation of the steel plant though it would be a boon to the backward Rayalaseema. However, Jagan assured that he would sign the file related to Kadapa steel plant first once he takes oath as chief minister after 2019 elections. He was confident of coming to power in 2019.
” There is no hope for the steel plant in near future. I am with you. My solidarity is with you. Wait till 2019. I will sign the Steel-plant file first after taking oath of office as CM after 2019 elections,” he said.
Meanwhile, Praveen said the Steel Plant Sadhana Samiti would intensify its fight. ” Very soon we will announce the program of action,” he said.
