Well, you might be innocently thinking that the makers released the film just because it’s a holiday and would mean a long weekend. Ah, we wish that was the only reason! But then, there’s a small back story to this decision and after waiting for so long to release the film (they had finished work a while ago but were waiting for other big releases), they finally zeroed in on June 2nd for more than just long weekend benefit.
And here’s the other benefit they were looking for – The Telangana Formation Day! We hear, the day which will go down as a historic day for the people of the region was played interestingly by the makers. Yes, the idea was that Nithiin is the “only Nizam” hero and the makers felt that the release would be ideal as people from the region – which is a huge market – would see him as “our hero” and flock the theatres in hordes. And it seems that did happen with several new venues seeing huge collections like never before.
While we appreciate your business sense, have you thought what the consequences would be if the brothers and sisters of Andhra knew your actual intentions. Clever, though the business model may be, playing to peoples regional sentiments is a bit of a line to cross, eh?
