193 countries across the world and almost all states in India have observed the second United Nation’s International Yoga Day today (June 21,2016) but the Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao stayed away from this mega event a kin to the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Nitish had gone on records to announce his take on yoga day like this: “Yoga is a natural treatment process but liquor addicts cannot perform it. Yoga would be irrelevant unless a ban is imposed on sale of liquor across the country.” The Telangana CM, however, preferred to remain silent on this issue.
“KCR and his son KTR have not taken part in Yoga celebrations. Generally they don’t like such things. We haven’t seen KCR daughter Kavita too in celebrations,” a journalist covering TRS beat said.
Another senior journalist said that KCR is not an early-riser to perform yoga or any other physical activity in the early hours.
In contrast, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu, who made all his Ministers and IAS officers to undergo Yoga sessions, enthusiastically took part in Yoga celebrations in Vijayawada. He said that Yoga is the India’s gift presented to the World and asked the participants to spread Yoga culture among others. Naidu also gave some tips to the participants. Along with the Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, Naidu performed some Aasanas.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is hailed for impressing upon the UN to declare World Yoga Day, took part in a colourful Yoga session in Chandigarh’s
Chandigarh’s Capitol Complex and said that Yoga is form of a health insurance and it provides a forum to bring together all sections. PM also talked about two yoga awards, one international and one for India.
Scores of film stars took part in the celebrations. Almost all English Television channels gave a lot of air space to the occasion.
