Taking advantage from the hardships being faced by the general public in the post-demonetization period, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is making a move to take forward the state economy towards cashless. He has been planning to introduce cashless transactions in more and more areas by encouraging people to pay their daily needs by swiping cards.
First, he has announced his intention to start the process by making people to pay by swiping cards at ration ships. He said that essential commodities will be supplied under electronic point of sale (e-POS) by using mobile phones or by swiping debit/credit cards from the month of December.
Taking part in Telugu Desam Party’s `Jana Chaitanya Yatra’, intending to create awareness among public on various welfare and developmental programmes of the government in East Godavari district yesterday, he said that the new system would be introduced to make cashless transactions.
The Chief Minister also announced that a new policy will be introduced to encourage people to make cashless transactions through mobile phones by using their thumb impression.
In this connection, Chandrababu Naidu mentioned that an action plan with a 10-point formula for families, 15-point formula for society and nine-point formula for the party is going to be formulated for a comprehensive development of the State which would be reviewed regularly.
He appealed the people to open Jan Dhan account and use Rupay Card for daily transactions. While broadly supporting the Centre’s move to scarp Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, he admitted that small traders and daily wage labourers were suffering due to delay in release of new notes. That’s why, he said he had written to the Reserve Bank of India urging to dispatch Rs 100 notes worth 10,000 crore to the State.
