Congress is seen in action everywhere in Telangana. Just take a journey few kilometers on any highway, you would come across some program of protest by Congress leaders. Yesterday, the sleepy Kalwakurhty Constituency witnessed a massive mobilization of women by local young MLA Challa Vamshi Chand Reddy.
Reddy, a first-time MLA, has been fighting the elimination of names of poor people from the list of pensioners. He says, the TRS government is playing pension politics on poor in the state.
“On one side, the government says it has increased the pension money from Rs 200 to Rs 1000. On the other side, it is removing thousands of names from the list of pensioners silently. If pension is given, one has to forego the ration for family and midday-meal ration for their wards. It’s violation of human rights. You can’t deny other benefits just because a person is getting Aasara pension,” Vamsi said.
” In Mudgal mandal in my constituency alone 25 per cent names of the eligible pensioner have been deleted,” he said after attending a huge dharna by women ,who were denied pension. “I will raise the issue in Assembly. I will take all the women to Hyderabad if necessary and parade them before Raj Bhavan,” Vamsi Chand Reddy told Telugu360.com from Kalwakurthy.
Vamsi, who was president AP NSUI, contested from Kalwakurthy in 2014 and won defeating BJP rival, with a too thin a margin.
