A sleepy dusty village Mori, a sleepy village nestling on the banks of the Vasistha river in Sakhinetipalli mandal of East Godavari district, has gone into the annals of the history of rural AP by pioneering digital transactions. It has emerged as the first digital village in Andhra Pradesh, wired with fiber network.
Expressing his satisfaction as this village laid foundation for the realisation of his dream of transforming the entire state into digital transactions, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has accorded ‘digital’ status to the village yesterday after it has reached 100 per cent cashless transactions.
Chief Minister is trying to showcase this village as how technology should be harnessed for the benefit of poor and over-all human development. He termed Mori village as a role model for the whole of rural India.
It may be recalled that Chief Minister has undertaken an ambitious task of connecting the entire state with the fiber grid, which helps all households of the village access internet, cable service and phone facility with only Rs 149. Mori has emerged as the first village went on digital with fiber grid.
Addressing a public meeting on the occasion Chandrababu Naidu said that Mori’s achievements will be replicated in other villages in the State. He is hopeful that this would leads that every house will become a knowledge hub and living standards in villages will be enhanced.
He expressed hope that wealth could be created by villages with the help IT initiatives. He further said that agriculture tourism will get a boost and marine wealth could be tapped with technology. He informed that 10 lakh triple play boxes have been ordered and fiber grid network will expanded to other villages.
He launched wifi system by switching on Sri Venkateswara Bhakthi Channel and he spoke to Secretary of Department of Telecommunication, Delhi. He inaugurated a digital classroom also. He said that digital transactions have already begun and cashless transactions will start shortly with the support of different cards.
The Chief Minister inaugurated online LED lights in the village through laptop from the dais and said that this will enable to see lighting system from any of the houses in the village in real time.
