The recent comradeship cultivated between Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Prime Minister Narendra Modi makes the BJP leaders in Telangana confuse on their political strategies. The party leadership, which was till recently claiming to be emerging as an alternate to TRS by 2019 polls, was found `helpless’ situation during ongoing monsoon sessions of the Telangana assembly.
Till recently, BJP leaders accusing Chandrashekar Rao’s government of ignoring its poll promises and adopting anti-people policies. But suddenly their MLAs turned as preachers, advisors or philosophical in the assembly session. They seems to be restrained from using harsh language against the government, as Chief Minister himself on several occasion strongly supporting Modi’s initiatives from the floor of the assembly.
Realising the peculiar political scenario left before them, Telangana BJP leaders have decided to concentrate more on bringing various schemes of the central government and also centre’s assistance to the state to the knowledge of the people. For this, they have decided a massive campaign by publishing book-lets, leaflets and power point presentations.
As Chief Minister and ministers also acknowledging the centre’s assistance to various schemes in Assembly also, party MLAs are reluctant to adopt harsh attitude towards the government. It is interesting to note that for the first time BJP MLAs were not seen protesting or staging walk out in the Assembly even at once.
Though some leaders are claiming that while continuing `soft’ attitude towards the state government, they would expose government’s anti-people policies, a senior party leader admitted that their hands were chained by the Centre, which is more interested gaining support from the state government. So, he said it is time for them to focus on organisational matters and campaign about Narendra Modi’s governance.
For this purpose, the party had allotted the task to its five MLAs and one MLC, to prepare the party machinery by making each one of them as incharge for five districts. Their immediate task is to appoint district party office bearers and organise training programmes for party cadre till mandal level by January 15.
