BJP President Amit Shah, who has been claiming that his major priorities include strengthening the party in seven states where party’s presence is not commendable, is said to be turning `clueless’ with stunted growth in two Telugu states. During his maiden visit to these two states in January, 2015, he had revealed his ambition of transforming the party into a ruling party here. But he remained unhappy as nothing is moving in that direction.
Though the party is having union ministers, MLAs and many in official positions, it was felt that organisationally the party is failing in expanding its base. Moreover, intense internal bickering’s causing him worry. As a result, till now he is unable to nominate President to AP unit. After bifurcation of the state, till now full-pledged state unit is not formed here.
The prevailing discontent and groupism among state level leaders makes leaders from other parties fear to join this party. In Andhra Pradesh, a sub-committee was constituted to `attract’ leaders from other parties. This committee was filled with leaders who joined from Congress like D Purandeswari, Kanna Lakshmi Narayana and Kavuri Samba Siva Rao. But it failed to attract even one leader form other parties.
Disappointed with the party leadership in these two states, party sources said that Amit Shah has decided to focus himself on these two states, after completion of assembly elections in five states. He has convened this message to leaders from these two states during recent party’s National Executive meeting in New Delhi.
He said that he would personally monitor the situation in these states aiming at to make the party emerge as a potential political force by 2019 polls. He has decided to tour in these two districts, three days each for grass-root exposure and also motivate district level leadership.
