• ‘Love Hyderabad’ structure, a selfie spot inaugurated by Minister KTR, has become a spitting place and a scribbling pad in just 45 days.

• GHMC has failed to carry on the minster’s mandate to make Tank Bund a clean recreational spot for the families.  

It surprises everyone, the way in which Hyderabadi’s are professing love for the new selfie point in Hyderabad. The unique typographical structure titled ‘Love Hyderabad’ was installed in the city at Tank Bund on November 25 by H’ble Minister KTR. In just 50days the fate of love Hyderabad has become host for rotten cake, inscriptions by lovers, spit stains, insect poop and foot prints.

With a view to make Tank Bund beautiful and a place for amusement and recreation for the people KTR unveiled the selfie spot. The cold-hearted way in which a few visitors are treating it doesn’t go well with the structure. We are using our monument as spitting place and scribbling pad.

All you can hear is the constant whistling of the security guards and visitors who turn a deaf ear. A security guard who wishes to remain anonymous tells Telugu360 “The rush hour beings in the afternoon and continuous until late in the night. We alert people who are climbing and spitting but everybody says ‘one minute please’ and keep doing what they want to do”

This icon which cuts across all demographics, now sheds tears beholding the way Romeos are confessing their love. The new selfie point was temporarily fenced by the security team to avoid defacing it, but a few officers removed as it was spoiling the look. Visitors especially at night are making life miserable for security guards posted at a typographic structure.

Two security guards are unable to control the huge crowd on weekends and targets of scary stares from the visitors. Despite repeated warnings, people climb on the structure and leave their foot imprints. Another security personnel told Telugu360 – “All these stains are done by the youngsters who visit in midnight. They are drunk and in a very big group. Already one security guard was beaten earlier for restricting them. How can 2 guards control 10 people”

 

Youth and children were seen climbing the structure today, while a lot of them tried to squeeze through the alphabets. The public doesn’t heed repeated warnings. Recently barricades were placed after complaints about traffic congestion. Despite lake police teams monitoring the area, they cannot keep an eye on all visitors.

The question still remains unanswered – How do we expect people who want to upload a selfie on facebook to respect our tourist spots? 

It is up to the GHMC officials to decide if barricading the structure would be less expensive or painting it time and again. No law, no rule, no security personnel can save our place except our own conscience
