Andhra Pradesh, which has been recently ranked number one in the country in ease of doing business, is gearing to hold the second partnership summit of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Visakhapatnam on January 27 and 28. The first summit was also held here only in the middle of 2015.
The government is expecting to sign MoUs worth Rs 8 lakh crore here, which would be almost double of such MoUs signed in the first edition. Around 2,000 delegates from 50 countries and trade ministers from 15 countries have confirmed their participation in the summit. The theme of this year’s summit is “Partnership for a sustained growth in an emerging global economic order”.
HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who has been monitoring arrangements, said that in the first summit it had signed MoUs worth Rs 4.67 lakh crore. According to him about 35 per cent of the projects signed for the state had already been grounded, while around 45 per cent of the total projects signed for Vizag had been grounded.
Stating that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will present a report at the Summit on the progress of these projects, Minister Srinivasa Rao said that soon a task force team would be constituted by the state government, which would check the progress of the signed MoUs.
“The task force will monitor the status of the projects. If any issue arises, the team will take appropriate measures to sort them out for the smooth run of the projects,” he added.
