The Telugu Desam Party in Visakhapatnam has sought the arrest of senior YSR Congress Party leaders Botsa Satyanarayana and MLA R K Roja for instigating the youth in the name of Special Category Status (SCS) to the state.
A formal complaint was lodged with Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Annepu Narasimha Murthy by TDP Urban District Organising Secretary Sanapala Panduranga Rao, last evening.
In his complaint, the TDP leader accused that the YSRCP leaders were indirectly invoking Telugu pride and provoking the youth to agitate on the SCS by congregating in large numbers at the R K Beach on the Republic day, by taking inspiration from Tamil people’s successfully agitation for legalisation of jallikattu.
Expressing fears that such provocations are bound to leads to arson and destruction of public properties, he asserted that it was not the culture of Telugu pride. He reminded that all the Telugu people had staged protests for 63 days peacefully demanding united Andhra Pradesh at the time of bifurcation.
Strongly denouncing the opposition parties’ agitations, he asserted that the Telugu people know well when to agitate and when to keep silent on the pressing demands. He recalled that even after the unscientific bifurcation, with the efforts of TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, the new State has secured many sops and projects from the Centre.
Pointing out that Botsa Satyanarayana, who had played a key role in bifurcation of the state as a minister, the TDP leader wondered how the same person could now instigate youth to demand the SCS. Alleging that the Opposition YSRCP was doing all this only to disturb the proposed CII Partnership Summit scheduled to start on January 27 in the Port city, the TDP leader demanded immediate arrest of these two opposition leaders for causing law and order problem.
