YSR Congress would take up the issue of Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh in the ensuing budget session of Parliament and would also move a private member’s Bill to let the nation know about the importance of the assurance given on the floor of the which was being neglected.
The Parliamentary Party which met in Hyderabad today under the chairmanship of YS Jaganmohan Reddy has discussed the issue and came to a firm conclusion that SCS is the only way which would put the state on the road of development with the incentives it carries with it.
Jaganmohan Reddy has asked the MPs to raise the issue with full vigour and let the country know how the issue has been diluted and put under wraps for the past three years by the Centre and state governments.
Leader of the Party in Lok Sabha, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy said “Our leader has made it clear time and again that there is no substitute for SCS and we will be highlighting the issue in the Parliament session and also move a private member bill”.
He said that they will mount pressure on the Centre to honour the assurance given on the floor of the house and the issue will be taken up in both houses of Parliament.
‘We have also discussed the strategy to be adopted during the session in wake of the leaders who had earlier advocated for SCS now speaking ill of it. Only through SCS the state will get investments and development the status will enable the state to give many incentives to investors,’ he added.
He wondered that when the government has been telling they are implementing all issues mentioned in the Act why is the government going back on the SCS which was assured in the House and the BJP leaders have raised the issue then.
