TDP leaders wherever they are meeting nowadays are seen discussing Supreme Court judgement against AIADMK chief VK Sasikala and drawing a parallel between the Jayalalithaa case and that of opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. TDP leaders held press conferences all over the state predicting Sasikala’s fate for him. They have been demanding expeditious trial of the illegal assets case against the YSR Congress president.
TDP’s official spokesperson and MLC asserts that there is no difference between the two cases. There, Sasikala, close aide of the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, misused Jayalalithaa’s position and amassed illegal wealth through quid pro quo deals. Where as in Andhra Pradesh, Jagan did the same abusing his father (late) YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s position as Chief Minister, he added.
Even Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also said to be commented at a meeting with party leaders that how the Supreme Court’s verdict was changing political equations in Tamil Nadu, similar scenario is likely to be emerged in Andhra Pradesh too by 2019 polls, if cases against YSRCP chief are expedited.
Several TDP leaders are found arguing that if Sasikala got a four-year jail term for a scam of Rs 66 crore, Jagan should get many more years as he illegally amassed about Rs one lakh crore.
Somireddy further recalled that the “modus operandi” used by both Sasikala and Jaganmohan Reddy, by floating shell companies and laundering money, were the same. He recalls that as per the Supreme Court’s previous directions, the cases against Jagan should be disposed of within one year. Even if he gets convicted in one out of 11 cases, he is sure to end up in jail for many years, he added.
He said already the Enforcement Directorate had already attached Jagan’s properties worth Rs 3,000 crore while the CBI and the ED have unearthed illegal assets to the tune of Rs 40,000 crore in name of Jagan and his companies.
