Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party’s supremo N Chandrababu Naidu asserted that party leaders should not have a narrow approach of returning power in the next elections only, but should focus that the party should continue in power forever.
Addressing day-long party workshop in Vijayawada, that continued for almost 11 hours, he indicated that there should not be scope for survival of opposition parties in the state and the party should continue in power with 80 per cent people’s support. He stressed that it is not enough to be number one state in the country, but there should be number one mandate also.
Clearly stating his intentions, he said “our efforts should be in such a manner that no other party should hope for coming to power in near future.” However, he cautioned party leaders that they should realise strength of party functionaries alone could not bring any party into power. He alerted that party should not act against the aspirations of the people as they will vote only if they have confidence on the party.
Asserting that winning confidence of the people makes a lot of difference, he said that “our behavior will also play important role in gaining the people`s confidence. People should appreciate and cadre should feel proud about our development schemes”.
Warning the party leaders that we will lose the confidence of the people if we make mistakes, Chadnrababu Naidu cautioned that any mis-propaganda also will destroy party’s image. Indicating that no one will be ignored in the party, he said that both veterans and young leaders have to work together. While veterans in the party have rich experience, he said the young leaders have technology.
Directing his ministers not to interfere in other constituencies, TDP chief warned that unilateral approach of any leader will not be entertained at any cost. He warned the ministers against shunning their party responsibilities and asked them to participate actively in the development programmes initiated by the government.
