BJP MLC Somu Veerraju’s sensational comments
After BJP’s victory in Gujarat elections several of BJP leaders and BJP cadre went into celebrations mode. When TV channels were asking for their response on Gujarat results, BJP MLC Somu Veerraju made some sensational comments that gave enough fodder for political debates. Some of the key points in his addressing are as below:
- BJP will be deciding factor in the state of Andhra Pradesh in 2019 polls.
- BJP will decide which party would come into power in AP in 2019 general elections.
- If needed, BJP will revisit their support to TDP and take decisions “as per the conditions at that time” in 2019
- (On BJP seats coming down to 99 from 115 in Gujarat:) It is very common. NTR got more than 200 seats in 1983 but in 1989 his government defeated and he also lost in kalvakurthi. So getting less number of seats is ok and natural as long as power is not lost
- (On breaking TDP alliance and forming new alliances:) It only needs 4 months to form any new alliance for BJP
- (On the question is there a possibility to continue with TDP again:) Even if we continue, we will not be an ally that will compromise for 10-20 seats. Will not beg for seats. Will take maximum possible seats and strengthen BJP
- (On TV9:) TV9 intentionally doing some analysis to damage BJP. Let Rajnikanth (of TV9) do proper analysis.
Obviously, Veerraju’s comments did not go well with ruling TDP’s leaders and they ridiculed saying Veerraaju is daydreaming. So with these comments, once again it became clear that some section of leaders in BJP do not want to continue with TDP. We have to wait and see what turn this war of words take!!
