Director Bobby is one of the very few lucky filmmakers to have got the opportunity of directing stars such as Pawan Kalyan and NTR in the very beginning of his career. But, is he really calling the shots on the sets?
In the case of ‘Sardaar Gabbar Singh’, Bobby served just as a dummy director as Pawan himself took care of everything including direction. There were even rumors spread at that time that two other ghost directors also worked for the film. When Sardaar flopped, the entire credit of making a lackluster film went in Pawan’s account and Bobby found solace in not receiving criticism from anyone.
Later, Bobby surprised everyone by grabbing the opportunity to direct an in-form NTR in ‘Jai Lava Kusa’. Going by the reports, he has once again been limited as dummy. Rumor is that NTR and film’s cinematographer Muraleedharan, who has worked on big Bollywood films like PK, 3 Idiots, Mojenjo Daro and others, are suggesting changes to Bobby’s vision and instead conceiving their own version.
An inexperienced and under-pressure Bobby is rumored to be reluctantly obliging to the fingering of NTR. Actually, he may not lose much by doing so. If the film becomes a hit, he can claim the credit and if it flops, people will once again show sympathy on him, just like in the case of Sardaar.
On the brighter side, Bobby is already considered one of the upcoming top directors since he has worked with two big stars, irrespective of whether he really directed them or not. On the downside, the tag of ‘Dummy Director’ might hurt him and his career.
