Andhra Pradesh Minister of Agriculture Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy is keenly working on strengthening Telugu Desham Party in Nellore. He is in consultation with several key leaders in the district. He went ahead and convened meetings with almost six political families at their respective residence.

In his first visit after being inducted as Cabinet Minister, SomiReddy met Jana Sena party chief Pawan Kalyan’s mother Konidela Anjana Devi. This brief meeting gained significance especially since Pawan Kalyan seems to be drifting away from TDP.

Over the weekend, Somireddy met Anam Vivekananda Reddy, Talapaka Ramesh Reddy, MLC Vakati Narayana Reddy, Kilari Venkataswamy Naidu including prominent leaders of CPI and CPM. He even met his political rivals, Anam family and will be soon meeting Anam Ramnarayana Reddy and Adala Prabhakar Reddy with whose help he wants to reinforce the strength of TDP in the district.

However, Somireddy sources claimed that there is no personal agenda in these meetings and it is only to bring back the former glory of the cycle party. Also, they held that the TDP MLC wants to give prominence to the Senior leaders in the party.

While the intentions of Somireddy are yet to be revealed, the discussions with Konidela and Anam family is gaining importance. Pawan Kalyan is known to have strong fan base and related associations in the district. The Jana Sena party is likely to evolve as strong one in the region by 2019 elections. The political scene in the district is worth watching, especially with Somireddy putting in his best efforts to strengthen TDP.
