Vijayawada: The final designs of the government core complexes in Amaravati would be ready by May 22. The master designers, Norman Fosters from UK, would submit the designs to the government on May 22. The government would then, after an initial review, place the designs for the review of the people, said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
The AP Capital Region Development Authority officials have returned to the city after participating in the workshop in London on the core capital designs from May 12 to 16. The final plan proposals of the core capital would have the Assembly complex as iconic tower that reflects the rich tradition and culture of the Telugu people.
While the Secretariat complex is proposed in 8 to 10 floors, the Assembly would be located in over 160 acres of land. The Government complex, which is set to come up on the banks of river Krishna would be well connected by road, rail and inland waterways. The Chief Minister had instructed the officials to plan the transportation for the new capital and wanted them to plan for common ticket for road, rail and waterways. The walking distance for the visitors to any office in the core capital should be maximum of five minutes, he told the officials.
The AP government had already signed MoU with the Singapore Consortium to build the core capital and had even assigned the land for the startup area. The Singapore Consortium and the State government would together develop this startup area and sell the open spaces and built up areas to raise funds for the construction of the Government City.
Having completed the initial process of signing MoU with the Singapore Consortium, the State government is now focusing on the Government City, which it wants to give a shape before going for the next round of elections.
