Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Ministers Nakka Anand Babu, Pitani Satyanarayana and KS Jawahar along with SC Corporation Chairman Jupudi Prabhakar Rao and local MLA Vetukuri Siva Rama Raju visited Christianpeta in Garagaparru village, West Godavari on Monday and held discussions with the Dalits who were subject to boycott by the upper-castes. The teary Dalits informed the TDP leaders that they are unable to find work from past three months.
The ministers assured to create assets for Dalits livelihood and organise skill training programmes. The TDP legislators explained them the measures being take for them and offered to construct pucca houses, concrete roads and individual toilets for the Dalits. Even though the ministers said that the accused were arrested, the Dalit villagers shot back about the accused the being released on bail. They said that they got nothing from the government except for 5kg of rice.
Social welfare minister Nakka Ananda babu, said that under SC sub plan, the drinking water woes will be solved and drainages will be constructed in the Dalit colony.
The TDP leaders went ahead and listed names of popular TDP Dalit leaders like G M C Balayogi, K Pratibha Bharati and A Mahendranath to inform them that the ruling party is concerned about Dalits and there is no prejudice. The Ministers are reportedly in talks with the upper caste members of the village.
