Nagari MLA R K Roja today clarified that she would not shy away from the privileges committee but ruled out tendering apology to the committee for the charges framed against her without basis.
The vocal YSRC MLA alleged that chief minister was trying to destroy her politically for two reasons- for vehemently standing by the victims of call money scandal; second, she was the only vocal woman member from the opposition party questioning the CM for his politics.
In her view, no woman has ever raised voice on the floor of the house on issues related to people of the state and her constituency, in particular. As he was not tolerant of a woman raising accusing finger at him, the CM is inciting dalit women MLAs against her. It had displayed, Roja said, the male chauvinism in TDP leadership.
Clarifying her skipping the meetings of privileges committee, Roja said, she could not attend the meeting for some personal reasons. ” On one occasion I was in New Delhi. On some other occasion she fell sick in the Assembly premises. There was no intention of ignoring the notices of Privileges Committee,” she said. ” I do attend the next meeting,” he said and hastened to add that it was not for tendering apology. ” I won’t apologize for an wrongs which I did not commit,” she said. ” if the carges are proven correct,I would resign from the House,” he said.
She alleged that the TDP was targeting three people- herself, Kodali Nani and Jaganmohan Reddy. ” There is a caste angle in the charges leveled against me,” she said and took strong objection to calling her as Roja Reddy.
” My name has never been suffixed with Reddy. The TDP invented this and calling me Reddy in whenever they had to refer to my name. This is a deliberate attempt to paint casteism to the peoples’ issues I raised on the floor of the issue, ” Roja said.
She reiterated that her suspension for one year by the Assembly was discriminatory. ” Many members used foul language. Many members shouted slogans. But I was singled out for suspension. Former speakers and legal experts clearly opined that my suspension was wrong. High Court single judge bench also set aside the suspension. But they did not honor these opinions. Instead chose to go on appeal. I will also fight to the end,” she said. She said the speaker had avoided all inconvience points she raised about the leaking of unedited live proceedings of Assembly. ” I demand an inquiry into the whole episode of leaking clippings of of live proceedings,” she said.
She also alleged that Naidu was fielding innocent women member like Anita to attack her.
” The CM is using them puppets against me. He has a tendency to field women against his enemies. When I was in TDP he forced me to attack YSR and Chiranjeevi,” Roja revealed.
