Director S.U. Arun Kumar is excited about his Tamil directorial “Sethupathi”, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Remya Nambeesan, being remade into Telugu. But he won’t be helming the remake.
“It’s a film very close to my heart, and I’m thrilled that it’s being remade in Telugu. The team that bought the remake rights even included me in their script discussion and were happy to incorporate my suggestions,” Arun Kumar told IANS.
Asked if he was not interested to direct the remake, he said: “I’ve already begun work on my next project. I can’t leave this and take up another project now. Moreover, it’s an alien industry and language so I don’t think I’ll be comfortable.”
Although Arun isn’t sure who will play the lead roles in the remake, industry grapevine suggests that Ganta Ravi Teja, son of popular politician Srinivasa Rao, will reprise Vijay Sethupathi’s role.
A story of a righteous police officer, “Sethupathi” was one of the sleeper hits of 2016.
