Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna had made distasteful and disrespectful remarks against women in full public glare at an audio release function of a movie.
He is generally notorious for his incoherent speeches.
Even the legendary NTR used to depend on a professionally crafted script to deliver lectures at political meetings.
It is not because he couldn’t deliver extemporaneous speech. But, he did not want to miss out on important points, didn’t want to prolong his lecture and make audience feel tired and sick, and also he meticulously wanted to avoid blabbering.
Known for his fantastic delivery of dialogue and diction, and exemplary writing skills, NTR did not have any legacy bestowed on him. He was a self illuminating star.
Contrary to traits of his dad, Balakrishna is unclear in his thoughts and deeds, action and diction, expression and impression. Recall what was the premise taken by his lawyers in the infamous shooting case. You would get then answer.
The apology Balakrishna had, through a press note, tendered too was in perfect sync with his attitude. The unsavoury, indecent, lascivious and lewd remarks he passed were unbecoming of a legislator.
Personally, he may not have a tall political stature. But the utter disgrace he accrued to his father was unpardonable.
How can Balakrishna slap some one and tender an apology? His feeble and meaningless apology makes no sense at all. He claims that he did not mean to hurt anybody and they were not aimed at anybody.
If they were actually targeted at a particular person or a group of persons, the retort would have been instant and effective.
The claim that he has inherited the culture of respecting women from his father was mendacious.
This is not the first time Balakrishna has made these types of licentious remarks.
There have been multiple instances where he had blurted out obscene words, which are unprintable.
Recently, at a press meet on Lepakshi, he hurled invectives at Chiranjeevi which could have been completely avoided. They were totally uncalled for.
The audio release function of Savitri movie where he spoke of “scaling heights and delving depths” and “kissing and impregnating” are surely highly condemnable and the TDP boss’s behind-the-scene taunting wouldn’t avenge the hurt feelings of people in general and women folk in particular.
Chandrababu Naidu, known for being extremely dignified and careful when it comes to such things, must act now. A public reprimand of his brother-in-law and his foul language would only enhance his prestige.
Assembly is in session. He can make a suo motu statement on this and come up with measures of course correction, even if that means an oblique rebuke of Balakrishna, on the floor of the House.
Elected representatives have a greater responsibility. Use of parliamentary language is mandatory and is not an option.
A video apology too wouldn’t suffice, for Balakrishna can “act” in it without any original sense of remorse. He should know that his “constipation of thoughts and diarrhoea of words” is abhorred by one and all.
