The market leader in Telugu infotainment industry, TV-9, and another popular channel
V-6, have reportedly been removed from the ratings of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India for four consecutive weeks.
According to the formal messages received by the heads of media houses, data of the two channels is not included in the ratings due to their “suspected malafide practices.” Full details are awaited.
“We are shocked to see this message posted on top of the list of the Week-46 ratings. We don’t know what kind of malpractice they resorted to,” a senior editor of a news channel told telugu360.com on condition of anonymity.
Accordingly, BARC didn’t mention the names of the two channels in the ratings it released for Week-46. Consequently, TV-5 regained its first position while N-TV became No-2. The first public-funded channel, 10-TV, reached third position for the first time in its existence.
It is party time in ruling party’s T-News, which bagged fifth position, for the first time while Ee-TV (AP) suffered a jolt with a drop in the ratings compared to last week. Due to the deletion of the two channels the overall GRPs have considerably come down.
TV9 & V6 sources said that both the channels had complained against manipulation of ratings. “We gave proofs to BARC. It is unhappy with us. They asked us as to why did we investigate,” a top functionary of TV-9 said.
Latest GRPs is as follows:
All News Channels-833 (Week-46)/1129 (Week-45)
