Telugu Desam Party MLA from Nandyal Bhuma Nagi Reddy’s demise has sent shockwaves in the state. He had been yearning to become a minister but unfortunately passed away. Chandrababu Naidu’s Cabinet expansion was all set to be completed before Ugadi and the new ministers would be swearing in soon. Bhuma Nagi Reddy was in the race to the Ministerial post.
The MLA and his daughter Akhila Priya switched loyalties to TDP from YSRCP on the pretext of Naidu giving the former a cabinet berth. However objections were raised by Shilpa brothers who threatened to quit the ruling party. But Chandrababu handled the situation and found a middle ground for both the parties.
The CM secured that if there is any issue in inducting Bhuma Nagi Reddy into the cabinet, his daughter Akhila Priya will be taken into the team.
While at the time of settlement, Chandrababu resolved a big challenge between Bhuma and Shilpa brothers, if reports are to be believed Governor E S L Narasimhan is hesitant in administering oath to the defected MLAs on technical grounds.
It is yet to be seen post the demise of Nagireddy, if Chandrababu will stand by his word and induct Akhila Priya. She was elected unanimously in the by elections from Allagadda from YSRCP after the demise of her mother in 2014.
