Kapu reservation movement leader Mudragada Padmanabham commits mistakes in a hurry and repents leisurely. His entire political career stands testimony to this. He hurriedly gave a call to Kapus present in a public meeting to stage rasta roko and hurriedly decided to go on fast unto death.
And hurriedly, even before his health showed signs of deterioration, he called off the fast and hurriedly gave a statement, while taking the lemon juice offered by TDP Turpu Kapu leader Kala VenktaRao, that he had confidence in Chandrababu Naidu.
In the past, he hurriedly quit TDP and joined BJP, and came back hurriedly and associated himself with Congress when YSR was alive. Now he is in a hurry to wage a war with the ruling party. He thinks that he was cheated by the Telugu Desam supremo and hurriedly dashed off a letter to chief minister Chandrababu Naidu- reverting back to his earlier belligerent posture against Naidu. This all is happening in a matter of a month. Wanting to do everything in a hurry is not good for politicians of his stature.
Now he says the government is not honoring the assurances it gave to him at the time of calling off of the fast. The reason for sudden belligerency is that Naidu is dividing the Kapu people from the Kapu leaders like Mudragada Padmanabham. State government is carefully sanctioning the loans to Kapus beneficiaries in a big way mobilized by the Kapu TDP MLAs and Kapu ministers. Naidu is said to have instructed the officials and Kapu leaders of ruling party to wean away the supporters from Mudragada. The loan mela organized in Eluru last week was a success. If allowed such loan melas are bound to create schism among the Kapus – anti-establishment leaders and pro-establishment Kapu ordinary people. If Naidu allocates Rs 1000 crore to the Kapu corporation in coming budget, next year, they will indiscriminately disburse the loans without expecting repayment. Given the Naidu’s penchant for loan waiver, during the next elections, he may offer Kapu loan waiver. Very soon Naidu is planning to constitute governing bodies for public sector corporations. Many Kapus will get appointed, which again erode Kapus cofindence in Mudragada’s war cries.’
Mudragada seems to have understood Telugu Desam presidents Chanakya Niti. Since he can’t attack Naidu for his divisive politics, Mudragada says he was disappointed because his nominee had not been appointed to the Kapu Commission, loans were being given to those who owe allegiance toTDP etc.
There is no clarity in this. One month is too small a period to implement all the demands. But for a man in hurry it doesn’t matter.
” I feel ashamed and pained for taking the words Chandrababu Naidu on their face value. Kapus are complaining me against the government’s lack seriousness in implementing the assurances. Police harassment is going on. There is need to revive the agitation,” Mudragada said in Vizag. How did such a seasoned politician allow himself carried away by the words as shrewd a politician as Chandrababu Naidu.
When state government deployed all the six Kapu ministers in the cabinet and many MLAs to wean away the Kapus from agitational path, can Mudragada succeed in reigniting the Kapu sentiment?
