Central government cancelled recognition of âAkkineni International Foundationâ along with few other NGOs due to non-submission of Income Tax returns.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju informed Rajya Sabha that the government cancelled recognition of 190 organizations in Telangana and 450 in Andhra Pradesh states for negligence in filing IT returns including Akkineni International Foundation.
The Akkineni Foundation is taking up social activities including organizing health camps in rural areas and presenting âAkkineni National Awardsâ. The foundation is getting funds from foreign countries but, it didnât file returns for the previous financial year. Earlier the government asked NGOs, which get funds from foreign countries, should submit annual income details and those which failed in providing the same, it cancelled the recognition, the minister informed Rajya Sabha.
