Asserting that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) gaining strength with the weakening of opposition parties in the state, Party’s Supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Ministers Chandrababu Naidu today advised ministers and party leaders that they should focus on attracting leaders from other parties, particularly from Congress.
Expressing confidence that the challenge from opposition would be nominal in the forthcoming elections, however he cautioned them on the need to counter opposition’s strategies.
Conducting a meeting with the members of party’s coordination committee, ministers, district party presidents and other important leaders at his residence in Vijayawada, he said to attain political stability in constituencies leaders should ensure 80 per cent of voters should be with TDP.
According to him welfare programmes, completion of Polavaram project and world-class capital construction would be main issues which would enhance satisfactory levels of the people towards the government.
Stating that Congress is failing to revive itself in the state, he cautioned that the main opposition YSRCP is making efforts to admit potential Congress leaders. So, he asked party leaders to identify potential Congress leaders so that to attract them to join the party so that to weaken opposition vote banks.
He said that YSRCP itself is in dilution and is not in a position to challenge TDP’s supremacy in the state politics. Though a small percent of people from the main opposition YSRCP are likely to shift towards Congress, the Chief Minister commented that Congress leaders themselves have no confidence to revive their fortunes in the state.
