Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has called for immediate action to support all the cyclone Fani-hit people and areas while asking the TDP cadre and general public to gear up for the rescue operations in the coastal Andhra. Naidu has directed the party cadres to supply milk, drinking water, food and clothes to the cyclone-hit areas.
“The impact of cyclone Fani is more on Srikakulam, Vijayanagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts. We have the responsibility to help all the cyclone victims. I request all the general public, business houses, traders, NGOs, TDP cadres and leaders to come forward to help the cyclone victims. We have been implementing our action plan to ensure regular supply of drinking water, milk, food and other essential commodities to the people suffering in the cyclone-hit areas,” maintained Naidu.
Cyclone Fani, which has hit Odisha this morning, is considered to be severe storm since 1999 on the east coast.
In a tweet, India Met Department said: “The extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani lay centred at 6:30 am (Friday) at 80km south-southwest of Puri and 280km east-northeast of Visakhapatnam.”
The cyclone Fani has disrupted transport services in the coastal Andhra as Indian Railways and Airport Authority of India (AAI) have issued caution notices. AAI has asked the airlines to take up rescue and relief operations in Coastal Andhra and Odisha. Airlines are requested to airlift relief material to distribute in the cyclone-hit areas. All the airlines have cancelled all the flights from and to Visakhapatnam.
